Safer Internet Day 2016

By Fergus Coyle on February 9, 2016

Eric McCleary from iTeach came into school on Tuesday 9th of February and delivered powerful assemblies on the topic of e-safety to increase our understanding of how to stay safe when online. The assemblies coincided with Safer Internet Day and the children engaged in several activities that deepened their awareness of the need to follow some simple rules when online. The internet is a powerful tool that is very much a part of our every day lives but we must respect it and be mindful of the potential dangers that lie online. Don’t share information with strangers, keep security settings at their highest level, never agree to meet someone that you’ve met online, report inappropriate comments and always ask a responsible adult about something that you are unsure about when online. Once content is put online it can never be removed. Remember everyone, “You can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube!!!”
