Developing mathematics skills in the outdoor environment
In St.Therese of Lisieux PS we firmly believe that playful and engaging teaching and learning is essential in facilitating rich learning experiences that ultimately support each child in achieving their potential. It is a great opportunity for our children to move, regulate and express themselves away from the confines of the classroom, and enables them to make useful links in their learning.
In recent good weather, Mrs. O'Prey and a group of P4 children took their learning outdoors. The children thoroughly enjoyed engaging in active learning activities, using the markings on our school playground, to further develop their number and measures skills. The children displayed great levels of motivation and engagement throughout, which is evidenced by the photographs below. It was wonderful to see the children showing greater confidence completing their mathematics tasks back in the classroom. Well done everyone!
