Inter Schools Football Tournament 2025

27th Mar 2025

The boys from Primary 6 and 7 took part in the final qualifying day of the Inter Schools Futsal Tournament at the Shankill Leisure Centre this week. They were placed in Group A which also included Blythfield PS, Six Mile PS, Harmony PS, St Joseph's Slate Street and Belvoir PS.

The group games were of a very high caliber, with great skill and commitment from all of the teams involved. Our boys managed two wins, two draws and a defeat in their final game which saw them finish third overall in the group, and into the knockout finals.

Taking on St. Vincent De Paul PS in the quarter final, the boys took a while to get going and were able to secure the victory despite the fantastic efforts of the St Vincent's goalkeeper who pulled off a string of wonderful stops to frustrate St Therese. The game finished off 3-0 and secured a semi-final spot against Blythfield who had inflicted their only defeat in the group games.

Seeking retribution, the boys put in their most accomplished performance of the day, managing to keep the tournaments top scorer with 14 goals very quiet and limiting him to no real clear chances. The boys took the lead with a wonderful 25 yard top corner strike which was followed up quickly by another. The boys managed to control the game and secure their position in the final.

The final, against group opponents Six Mile PS with whom they had drawn, was another excellent game. The boys took control of the game from the very start and managed to get themselves a two nil lead with 4 minutes to go. A little bit of nerves set in and Six Mile managed to pull one back with two minutes left to play. They boys however managed to hang on and secure overall victory on the day. They now progress onto the Inter School Futsal Finals Day.

Well done to all of the boys who took part. A fabulous effort!
