A huge congratulations to our Primary 7 boys who were crowned 2025 Inter Schools Futsal champions today at the finals day in the Shankill Leisure Centre. After winning their qualifying round two weeks ago, the boys were placed into Group B on finals day along with Holy Evangelists PS, Holy Cross Boys PS and Kings Park PS.
After playing all of their group matches, the boys topped the table with two victories and a draw. Finishing on top of the group, put the boys up against Nettlefield PS in the quarter-finals. The boys managed to secure victory with three quick goals and then a solid defensive effort to keep Nettlefield out.
In the semi-finals, they took on Holy Cross Boys who many of the boys play with in their local St Malachy's team. The boys settled into the game really well and went two up in a short period of time. Holy Cross tried to get back into the game with increased pressure but our boys managed to hold out and secure their place in the final.
The final saw St Therese take on St Bernard's, Wynchurch. From the first kick off, St Therese took control of the game and quickly built a strong three nil lead which looked like they had secured the title. However, a spirited comeback from St Bernard's with two goals brought the game back to life. A series of close misses and great saves meant that St Therese managed to hold on and secure the victory.
A fantastic effort from all of the boys who took part and thank you to all of the parents who were able to help out with transport and support.
