The girls from Primary 6/7 took on Stranmillis PS last Wednesday at the Knightsbridge YMCA. With luck on our side, we managed to avoid the incoming Storm Babet and took part in a highly competitive game against very strong opponents.
Playing the first half with the breeze at their backs, our girls immediately put Stranmillis under pressure and took the lead after 5 minutes with an excellent finish. Displaying their dominance going forward and strong organisation in defence, they were able to go in at half time leading by 3 goals to 1.
Playing against the strong breeze in the second half, the collective efforts of the team were tested in defence as Stranmillis managed to draw the game level with 5 minutes to go. However, a well worked attack that included most members of the team saw St Therese score with 2 minutes to go and they managed to hold on for victory and progress to the next round of the cup.
We would like to thank Stranmillis PS for arranging and hosting the game. It was a highly competitive match that showcased a wide range of skills on both teams.
