As part of our end of year celebrations, the children attended Ganaway Activity Centre. Based along the idyllic shores of the Irish Sea, just outside Millisle, it was the perfect setting for a wonderful overnight stay away from the comforts of home.
Blessed with fabulous weather, the children took part in a range of non-stop activities that consumed their day in what felt like an instant.
The children took part in a plethora of activities that included zip-lining, climbing walls, high and low ropes challenges, archery and team building exercises. Whilst the tasks were fun-filled, it took a lot of skill and practice to master them and allowed children to overcome fears and thrive.
In their unstructured time, there were a series of outdoor resources that the children enjoyed including football, park area, mini-putt and volleyball. Indoors, they were able to play table tennis, pool and fusball.
The children were responsible for the maintenance of their own rooms and had to make their own beds. The food provided by the wonderful canteen staff ensured that the children were fully nourished, although this did not quell the requests for the vending machines.
The highlight for many was our beach session on Thursday night. Cooling off in the sea, after a busy programme of activities was the perfect way to finish the day.
We would like to thank the children for the wonderful way in which they were impeccable ambassadors for our school and this was acknowledged by the staff at Ganaway. We would also like to thank the staff at Ganaway for their professionalism and way they looked after all of the children in the activites.
