U11 Edco Cup 2nd Round Vs St Paul's PS Mica Drive
The boys from Primary 7 played their 2nd round tie against St Paul's PS at the Waterworks in the U11 Edco Cup. Encouraged by their comeback victory in the last round against Seaview PS, the boys gave another encouraging display against strong oppomnents.
The first half was controlled well for the most part by St Therese but two goals against the run of play saw them having to work hard to get back on equal terms by half time.
In the second half, St Therese created a lot of opportunities early on but were unable to convert them into goals. With ten minutes remaining, they made the crucial breakthrough and seemed to be heading for the next round as they controlled the play. However, with the very last play of the game, St Paul's managed to win a penalty which they scored.
The game went straight to penalties with both teams scoring their first three penalties resulting in a sudden-death shoot out. After 2 more successful attempts from St Therese, our goalkeeper managed to save the St Paul's effort, ensuring their passage through to the next round.
The game was played in an excellent spirit with both sets of players being a credit to their schools. Well done to all who took part and thanks to those who were able to help out today with transport to and from the game.
