ICT
ICT is an important part of school life and can be seen in our meaningful and purposeful cross-curricular activities. We are proud to have completed Phase 1 and 2 of the Empower Programme and the Create Programme in partnership with the Nerve Centre in 2022. Additionally, in 2023, we were delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Digital Schools Award and Digital Wellbeing Award for our endeavours in UICT, coding and online safety from P1 to P7.
We realise the importance of developing children’s digital skills so that they can fully embrace 21st Century learning, whilst developing their competence in problem solving, data handling, exchanging information and being creative. In St. Therese of Lisieux, we are proud to have elected 19 new Primary 7 Digital Leaders for the academic year 2024/25. We are also delighted to announce that we have been chosen as a Dream Space Ambassador School for 2024/25, with 8 Primary 7 children taking on this leadership role. These children help lead and deliver ICT and coding activities to their peers and younger classes, whilst developing their own thinking skills and personal capabilities. Furthermore they assist in the maintenance and organisation of our digital resources.
Each classroom is equipped with a state of the art Interactive Whiteboards. Every class has access to weekly timetabled slots in our ICT Suite and a class set of iPads. Furthermore, each classroom in Key Stage Two has an additional set of Android tablets which are used daily to develop skills in Literacy and Numeracy using online platforms such as Learning By Questions and Studyladder. We are also very fortunate to have a number of coding devices, including Micro:bits, Beebot and Spheros which are used throughout all Key Stages for coding and computational thinking work.
Through our ICT work we are inspiring the children of today, to become the adults of tomorrow.
